Wish all my readers a Very Happy New Year! 2021 is the year of Hope. The world is taking the first few steps towards normalcy and trying it’s best to be free from the grip of the Pandemic. So why not begin the year on a sweet note!
Life is full of Sweetness
Sweets have always been known as sinful indulgences. We are no novice to the various aftermaths of going overboard with sweets! Even then, no festival or celebration is complete without some Sweets! Every good news, achievement, ceremony, new venture calls for something sweet. To be bluntly true, every meal ends with something sweet! There is no shame in admitting that we are all slaves to the guile of sweet-temptations.
We all need a little sweetness
I don’t prescribe sweets as part of any Detox Plan but once in a while, a little sweet indulgence doesn’t really hurt. In fact, the sugar present in sweets is a great energy booster! Sugar also helps to pep-up a soggy mood. Desserts made with natural sugars like honey, maple syrup, dairy products, fruits, are loaded with beneficial nutrients like vitamins, fiber, and calcium. Dark chocolates are known to be great for the brain and heart health.
Don’t cross the Limit!
The healthy recommended dose of daily sugar is not more than 24-30gm per day; which is 6-7 sugar cubes only. If you think you are in the safe zone, just think about the spoonful of sweetness you are adding to your diet throughout the day. It’s just not the sugar in your glass or cup! Your daily intake of Carbs, fruits, veggies, low cal. energy bar, biscuits, cereals, fizzy beverages, alcoholic drinks to diet-friendly honey, and healthy dates are also included in that sweet list! There are no magical substitutes for sugar to fool your body. Bottom line: Too much sugar is too much, irrespective of the source.
So, next time you want to grab a bite of your favorite sweet-dish don’t resist just adjust a bit of your daily dose of sweet counts and go ahead. Stay within the limits. Stay safe.
