It’s a party-time for me since September every year! Not that I am complaining but family celebrations and festivities can be pretty demanding at times!😉 It’s hard to resist the innocent-looking small portions of starters, paired with the tempting colorful combinations of innovative cocktails and mocktails, the mood is set for a killer evening to sample and mingle.😅
After the lull of several months, this year the celebrations seem to be much more dear and I don’t want to miss any of them! So, do I blame the added inches on my waist-line on the party binges? Certainly Not! In fact, the months of lockdown slack and monotony had done more damage than any binging could ever do.
Socialising is not only great for psychology but also helps us to look fit and good. Pre-party calculatedly devoted to becoming fitter and healthier. Remember the early morning jogs and grilling gym sessions, along with the detox diet just a few months before a family wedding or shed the few extra pounds before the next college reunion?
Be it a family get-together or a gala public event, most of us want to look our best.☺️ Leave alone the several spa appointments to the last-minute rush to the local beauty salon for some extra touch-ups, it is almost mandatory to be at par, if not look a notch better than the last time! Fitting into the red dress looking-slender and delicate or showing off a slim waistline in a traditional sari are not some random options that one would take lightly. Equally important is to fit into that immaculate suite or the designer kurta, highlighted with an impressively pronounced jaw-line and toned abs!
Nothing can beat a well-toned body and the natural glow of inner health and neither can be achieved or ruined overnight!
Our daily lifestyle is a major determinant when it comes to health and fitness, which ultimately reflects on our physical appearance. Occasional party-binging might give you some digestion problems or a Panda eye appearance but if you end up adding numbers to your weighing scale after Diwali or Christmas, it is time to seriously evaluate your regular diet and regime.
No matter how hard you party, sufficient sleep, water intake and a consistent exercise routine, along with your homely skin and hair care regime are as important as breathing and dressing up for the party. Our body is very much like a subtle, possessive partner, always trying to send the warning signals when you go a little over the limit, ignore it and you are most evident in a messy situation very soon! It is not what you indulge in few social gatherings but how you maintain yourself the entire year determines your health and metabolism.
However, it is always safe to be a little prudent with the party platter. There is a very fine line between appreciating good food and gluttony and we are the best judge for ourselves on that. Enjoy everything within the limit of your digestive capacity. A few French fries, chicken lollypops or samosas will not let you down, nor would a slice of cheesecake or a warm and juicy Gulab Jamun. The idea is to taste and enjoy. Not stuff it in like there’s no tomorrow. Stay within the tipsy range in order to prevent a massive hangover the next day as well as to avoid being the party-pooper!
There is no reason to abstain from the goodies of the festivities. The past few sordid months of confinement during the Pandemic have taught us the value of socializing, party and get-togethers. There is a long road to recovery but this is the time to indulge a little with our loved ones. Do take the necessary precautions of social distancing, maintain the Covid protocols and let the party begin!🥳
